Interview of Bruno Leyser
I have seen Bruno Leyser in several body painting competitions, but I never had a chance to interview him. Now, finally I could do it, just after Body-Art 2009.

Question : 1. A few words about the country, town or village where you live; do you have children?; what kind of studies you have done or your profession? What is your artistic background? What do you like most in life?
Bruno : Ich bin 1960 geboren in Essen (Ruhrgebiet)
Kulturhauptstadt 2010.
Vater von zwei Söhnen. An der ibkk (Institut für Ausbildung in bildender
Kunst und Kunsttherapie) habe ich im Fachbereich Airbrush 2001 mein Diplom,
welches vom Berufsverband „Verband Freier Deutscher Künstler“
anerkannt ist, absolviert.
Außer meinen künstlerischen Tätigkeiten fahre ich gern Motorrad.
Meine weiteren künstlerischen Tätigkeiten sind: die Fotografie, das Erstellen von Metalfashion, Glaskunst Tiffany und was ich noch am erlernen bin Körperabdrücke.
<ENGLISH> I am born in 1960 in Essen (région de la Ruhr), cultural
capital in 2010.
Father of two sons. In IBBK (institute of education in pedagogic art and art
therapy) I have finished in the department of Airbrush in 2001 and obtained
my certificate which is recognised by the professional organisation „association
of free German artists“.
Outside ofmy artistic activities I enjoy driving my motorcycle.
My other artistic activities are: photography, the construction of Metalfashion, Tiffany glass art and what I still learn is body impressions.
Question 2: . how have you discovered body painting? Describe the circumstances. How did you start doing body painting yourself? Have you done a lot or a few? Have you participed in events, competition? Which ones ?
Bruno : Durch Airbrush-Fachzeitschriften
habe ich das Bodypainting kennengelernt und fragte eine Arbeitskollegin meiner
Frau, ob sie nicht mal Interesse an Bodypainting habe. Was wir gemacht hatten,
gefiel uns so gut, dass ich mich 2005 zum world bodypainting festival angemeldet
habe. Dort errang ich den 13. Platz und ich nahm daraufhin am German Bodypainting
2005 und dem belgischen Festival 2005 teil. In Belgien konnte ich 2005 den 1.
Platz erringen und so kam ich bis heute vom Bodypainting nicht mehr los und
möchte es auch gerne weiter ausüben.

<ENGLISH> I have discovered body painting in airbrush technical periodicals
and I asked a colleague of my wife if she does not have sometimes an interest
in body painting. What we had made, we liked it so much that I have announced
myself in 2005 to world bodypainting festival. There I obtained the 13th place
and as a result I took part in the German Bodypainting in 2005 and the Belgian
festival in 2005. In Belgium I obtained the 1st place in 2005 and so I have
continued with Bodypainting til today any more and would like to continue and
practice it, always with more pleasure.

Question 3: What do you like most in body painting? What do you find most difficult? What products do you use (paints and accessories for special effects)? What is your inspiration? How do you find ideas for new body paintings?
Bruno : Es ist immer eine neue Herausforderung
ein Bodypainting (Bildnis) auf einen Körper zu bringen, so dass es durch
die Körperrundungen (Brüste, Po und Body nicht verzerrt wirkt. Meine
Schwierigkeit liegt im Gesichtsbereich und die Gestaltung der Haare. Die Farben,
welche ich verwende, sind Kryolan, MÄC und Eulenspiegel. Zur Inspiration:

„ART History“ lese und schau ich mir Referenzmaterial an. Oder Belgien
2009 „Werbung und Kommerzielles“, mir war bekannt das Coca - Cola
einst ihren Sitz in
Essen hatte und somit bin ich auf der Webseite von Coca – Cola auf die
Geschichte gelangt und konnte lesen, dass CC den 80. Geburtstag in Deutschland
feiern kann.
Bei privaten Bodypaintings, die zum Beispiel zum Geburtstag des Models vom Lebensgefährten
verschenkt werden, gehe ich auf die Wünsche/Themen der Modelle ein.
<ENGLISH> A new challenge is to paint a portrait on a body, so that it
does not look distorted by the body curvatures (breasts, bottom and body). My
difficulty lies in the facial area and the design of the hair. The colours that
I use are Kryolan, MÄC and Eulenspiegel. For the inspiration: if I know
the topic, for example - WBF in 2006 "ART History" I read and look
at authoritative material. Or Belgium in 2009 „advertisement and commercial“,
to me was famously Coca-cola once her seat in
Essen had and therefore I go to the web page of Coca-cola on the history reaches
and could read that Coca-cola can celebrate the 80th birthday in Germany.
For private body paintings which are given , for example, for the birthday of
the model by her lifelong companion I follow the wishes / subjects of the model.
Question 4: Do you have always the same model or so you have several models? How did you meet them? Describe your relationship with the model during the work. Do you work home, in a studio? Do you work sometimes outside, in the open? Have you been painted yourself? What was the feeling? Did you enjoy the experience?
Bruno : Für Events versuche ich ein
Model zu finden welches dem Thema entspricht, soll heißen lieblich, dominant,
ausgeflippt usw., das beantwortet auch die Frage, ob ich immer mit dem gleichen
Model arbeite. Ich durfte bis heute ca. 130 verschiedene Modelle painten.
Die Beziehung zum Model, wenn ich das Model noch nicht kenne vereinbaren wir,
dass wir vor dem Painten ca. 30 Minuten zum kennen lernen nehmen, denn die Chemie/Charakter
sollte schon stimmen, da das Bodypainting sonst zum Scheitern verurteilt ist.
Überwiegend arbeite ich zuhause und bau für (Requisiten, Fotoanlage
und Paintingbereich) ständig mein Wohnzimmer zum Studio um.
Ich selbst bin nur zum BodyCircus von mir selbst gepaintet worden und schlüpfe
dann in die Charaktere als der ich mich verwandelt habe.
<ENGLISH> For events I try to find a model which fits the subject , which
could be delightful, dominant, freakish etc., therefore I do not always work
with the same model.Until toda, I have painted approx. 130 different models.
We agree on the respect with the model if I the model yet does not know, that
we before the painting approx. 30 minutes to learn to know each other, because
the chemistry / character must be right, because otherwise the Bodypainting
is doomed to be a failure. Predominantly I work at home and sometimes elsewhere
(equipment, photo arrangement)
I was myselfpainted and have become the BodyCircusand and then I slipped into
the character as it transformed me.
Question : 6. (question for Iris, the model) How do you feel when you are painted? Confortable, uneasy, clothed, naked? Was it difficult the first time or not? Do you give suggestions or opinions while you are being painted, or you don't say anything about the work while your sister paints. Which bodypainting has left you with the best memories? Where was it and why?
Bruno: Diese Frage stelle ich auch immer meinen Modellen und bis jetzt fühlten sich alle wohl und gar nicht nackt. Auch Vorschläge und Meinungen nehme ich von den Modellen gerne entgegen.
<ENGLISH> I always ask this question to my models and so far everybody felt fine and not at all nude. I also accept with pleasure proposals and opinions from the models.
Question : Anything to say about you plans, desire? Something you would like to do and you have not done yet? Anything that you would like to ask to people who will read this interview.
Bruno : Die Körpermalerei ist für
mich eine besondere Kunst und ich werde so weit ich kann es noch einige Zeit
ausüben. Es werden auch zunehmend Anfragen im
gewerblichen Bereich gestellt, Werbung/Promotion und dort würde ich gern
wie mein Kollege/Freund Mike Shane arbeiten. Was ich gerne machen würde,
ist ein Buch mit meinen Bodypaintings und deren Entstehung zu machen, doch da
fehlt es mir an Informationen zu einem Verlag.
<ENGLISH> The body painting is a special art for me and I become so far
I can exercise it still some time. These also become increasingly inquiries
in
commercial area put, advertisement / doctorate and there I would work with pleasure
like my Mr. / friend Mike Shane. What I would do with pleasure is a book with
my body paintings andhow they have been made, however, I lack information about
a publishing company.
